CNSF GOVERNANCE

A Board of Directors governs the CNSF. The Board consists of two members (the President and Vice President) from each of the four Societies, the President and two Vice-Presidents of the Board who are appointed from the general membership of the four Societies, one Neurology or Neurosurgery resident (alternating), the immediate Past-Chair of the Board (non-voting), and the CNSF CEO (non-voting). The Governance Committee consists of the CNSF President and the Presidents of the 4 member Societies, who serve as a nominating committee.

CANADIAN NEUROLOGICAL SCIENCES FEDERATION
Who we are

The Canadian Neurological Sciences Federation (CNSF) is an umbrella organization representing four member societies

  • Canadian Neurological Society (CNS)
  • Canadian Association of Child Neurologists (CACN)
  • Canadian Neurosurgical Society (CNSS)
  • Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists (CSCN).

These organizations form the ‘membership’ of the CNSF and share a common interest in the functions and disorders of the human nervous system.

CNSF Mission

Is: to enhance the care of patients with diseases of the nervous system through education, advocacy, and improved methods of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.

CNSF Goals
  • To provide a national forum for communication of information regarding disorders of the nervous system.
  • To provide educational programs and services to meet the continuing professional development needs of the members of the constituent Societies.
  • To encourage fundamental and applied research aimed at advancing knowledge related to the functions of the nervous system and its disorders.
  • To work with other organizations to increase public awareness and understanding of neurological disorders.
  • To advocate on behalf of the profession in developing and maintaining awareness of, and influencing perceptions about, neurological disorders.
  • To identify and address member needs.

CANADIAN JOURNAL OF NEUROLOGICAL SCIENCES (The Journal)

The Canadian Journal of Neurological Sciences is the official publication of the four member societies of the CNSF, publishing original work in both the clinical and basic neuro-sciences. The Journal encourages publication of papers from all branches of the neurosciences. The circulation is currently 1,600 and it is distributed in Canada, USA and abroad.
