Kim Hassenfeld, Clinical Director, lcsw

Kim Hassenfeld serves as the Clinical Director of CCNS, providing supervision and consultation to our therapists as well as providing educational workshops for the community. Kim is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 16 years of experience providing therapy to individuals, couples and families. Kim has expertise in treating clients with anxiety, depression, developmental trauma, and relational and familial issues.
I believe that change, healing and growth is possible when an individual, couple or family is provided a safe, responsive and understanding therapeutic environment in which to process difficult feelings, learn new ways of approaching others and recognize one's own internal strengths.

Matthew Silver, LCSW, CADC

Matthew is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. His professional practice focuses on treating adults, preteens/ adolescents, and families impacted by mental health and/or substance use. Matthew offers collaborative, growth-oriented therapy and counseling for anyone who wishes to be their best and live their life to the fullest. Matthew is also a clinical supervisor for graduate level interns completing their training at CCNS.
As a therapist, I am committed to meeting clients where they are, without value judgments or an agenda for how someone's life "should" be. I see people experiencing a range of concerns including: mood & anxiety disorders, life transitions, relational difficulties, grief & loss, trauma, & substance use issues (addictions).

Jan Roy, Psy.D.

Dr. Jan Roy is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with expertise in individual and group psychotherapy, as well as psychological and neuropsychological testing. Working in both the private and public sectors, Dr. Roy’s experience has ranged from work with individuals presenting with severe anxiety and depression, and providing specialized treatment for victims of abuse and trauma, to evaluating military candidates for fitness for duty and high security clearance and duty. Other areas of expertise include bipolar disorder, post-partum depression, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, substance-related and addictive disorders, traumatic brain injury, and personality disorders.
Among several clinical approaches, I utilize compassion-focused and positive psychology to help people improve the quality of their lives and interpersonal relationships. Allison Stein, LCSW

Allison is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and works with adults. She has a special interest in the treatment of anxiety disorders as well as unresolved trauma, life transitions, and relational challenges. Working primarily from psychodynamic and attachment perspectives, Allison utilizes several approaches to view and treat clients holistically including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy, and mindfulness techniques. Allison is also a clinical supervisor for graduate level interns completing their training at CCNS.

NORMA CANELAS, LCPC

Norma is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with 19 years of experience in providing counseling and therapy in English and Spanish to children, adults, and families. She has specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the treatment of trauma, and addressing alcohol and drug abuse.
LYDIA THORNTON, LCSW

Lydia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with children, adolescents, and adults. With an integrative approach grounded in a psychodynamic perspective, she engages clients in a collaborative process in which they can work towards their goals and discover and reach their potential. She has a background and interest in working with survivors of trauma.
I see the therapeutic relationship as a "safe zone," in which clients can process past experiences and explore new ways of living, thinking, and relating to both self and others, with the therapist as a witness, ally, and guide.

Kathy is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over three decades of experience in providing counseling and therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. She utilizes an integrative approach that draws from attachment theory as well as psychodynamic approaches.
DEBBIE STERNECKY, LSW

Debbie is a Licensed Social Worker who works with adults, families, teens, and pre-teens and has experience with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief and loss, divorce, twin issues, family dynamics, and academic concerns. Her approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Play Therapy, and Art Therapy. Debbie is also a Certified Trauma Professional and is a Disaster Mental Health volunteer with the American Red Cross. Debbie is a retired public-school educator who taught students of all cultural backgrounds.

Maddie Mays, LSW

Maddie is a Licensed Social Worker who works with children, teens, adults, seniors, and couples. Maddie has a particular interest in trauma-informed care and integrates this perspective into her work with clients coping with difficult life challenges including grief, suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, and relational issues.
Lina Neidhardt, ADVANCED Clinical Intern

Lina is an advanced clinical intern completing a Master of Social Work degree at the University of Chicago. She earned her bachelors degree at Reed College. Lina has clinical experience working with adults and has received supplemental training in trauma-informed therapy and motivational interviewing. She helps people find relief and heal through collaborative, sustained, and accessible therapeutic relationships.
ERIC MAYER, ADVANCED CLINICAL INTERN

Eric is an advanced clinical intern completing a Master of Social Work degree at Loyola University Chicago. Eric has experience providing counseling to children, adolescents, and adults. Specifically, Eric has worked with individuals struggling with anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, and substance use issues. Eric is committed to the idea that no one needs to be fixed because no one is broken.
